Sarah Carlstrom is currently shepherding Crossroads Lutheran Congregation in Dawson, MN. She has been married to her childhood friend, Justin for 12 years. They have cared for two foreign exchange boys, three foster children, and two Siberian Huskies. Pastor Sarah achieved her Masters of Divinity at St. John’s School of Theology and Seminary. Previously, she served as the Youth and Family Ministry Coordinator and Choral Music Director in the public school system. Reverend Carlstrom loves music, reading, drawing and exploring God’s beautiful creation in her free time. She is grateful to be a part of the Father’s work, equipping His people through the Holy Spirit to find, grow, and share their gifts as disciple-makers of Christ Jesus.
The title of my session will be “Chosen for a Time Such as This.” I will be looking at our identity, specifically who the world (falsely) says we are and who we (truly) are in Christ Jesus. This is grounded in a look at who Esther is: an orphan, chosen, named, and a queen. We, too, are orphans in our sin, chosen by God, named as his child, and made into a royal priesthood in Jesus Christ! All of this is for the purpose of declaring him who called us out of the darkness and into his wonderful light to a dead and broken world in desperate need of life in Christ. My talk will set the stage for Pastor Linda to talk about being “Gifted for a Time Such as This”.
Pastor Linda Nicklason, serves as Associate Pastor at New Creation Lutheran Church in Perham, MN. She and her husband, Gary, reside in Nevis, MN, and have been blessed with 40 years of marriage, three sons, and five grandchildren, soon to be six. She has a heart for missions, women’s, youth and children’s ministries, and looks forward to sharing Christ with the Women of the Word in September.
The title of this second session is “Gifted for a Time Such as This”. In this session, we will consider and identify our unique God-given Spiritual Gifts and how God may call us to use that/those gifts to further His Kingdom in this time and culture just as He placed and used Esther in her unique role to save His Chosen people. We will see that we are all called and uniquely gifted according to His will, for a purpose. We will be encouraged to be gracious and fearless, women of faith; chosen and empowered for a time such as this!
Register by September 14, to hear these two amazing women in person.
